JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Ancillary Services and according to established policies and procedures uses a variety of the Hospital’s patient information related systems, assesses each case related concern and resolves the issues with regards to appointments, financial matters and clearance for Radiology and other outpatient services.   Shares pertinent patient information with the appropriate personnel to ensure the smooth processing of appointments and information.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

1. Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in the healthcare field or in a related area preferred.
2. Working knowledge of PACS, and RIS software.
3. The level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of an Associate’s Degree or the equivalent combination of experience and training. 
4. Customer relations experience highly preferred.
5. Intermediate computer software skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Internet Explorer.
6. Requires experience assessing and solving customer problems by using excellent interpersonal skills. Utilizes excellent verbal and written communication skills serving a variety of patients and physician practices.
7. Must possess a working knowledge of commonly used healthcare concepts, practices and procedures with particular emphasis on outpatient services.
8. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide customer service appropriate to all of the age groups of patients served by the hospital.
9. Requires experience in utilization of skills specifically related to conflict management.
10. Requires the knowledge necessary to use multiple software systems within the hospital.
11. Requires demonstrated intermediate computer knowledge and the ability to utilize software applications and additional software programs as implemented.

JOB DUTIES

1.  Ensures that procedures are scheduled for the required services including any necessary changes to appointments based on patient request(s).
2.  Resolves registration concerns prior to a patient's appointment using necessary hospital patient information systems.
3.  Gathers pertinent information from insurance carriers, financial counselors and other ancillary staff to ensure services are billed appropriately.
4.  Communicates all exam prep information directly to the patient including directions and registration including arrival times to the facility and the imaging department.
5. Provides primary customer relations role for system with all practices assigned
6. Uses database system to track referrals and patterns of business.
7. Attends monthly staff meetings.
8. Conforms to the established Standards of Behavior.
9. Other duties as assigned.
