Description
Enforce animal-related ordinances as designated. Educate residents regarding applicable ordinances, respond to animal related complaints, and address neighborhood issues regarding animals.
Schedule: 40 hours per week; On-call for holidays and weekends
Starting Pay: $22.40 per hour; additional pay depending on experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrol neighborhoods identifying violations of ordinance, enforcing the applicable law, and impounding animals when necessary.
- Respond to public complaints and dispatched calls as assigned.
- Maintain accurate records and testify in court as assigned.
- Provide educational information to residents through handouts, presentations, and one-on-one conversations.
- Euthanize animals at the direction of the Field Supervisor.
- Available for regularly scheduled evening and weekend On-Call status
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to work with animals including capturing and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to navigate and locate properties.
- Knowledge of City ordinances regarding animals.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated math, reading and writing skills.
- 1 year of animal services experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
- Current Utah Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one.
- Ability to obtain Euthanasia Certification within 6 months.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Heavy physical effort requiring the ability to move around varied terrain, controlling and lifting animals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- A combination of office and field work.
- Typical office setting includes air conditioning, ultraviolet lighting, use of computers and other office equipment.
- Exposure to elements such as heat, cold, dampness, fumes, dust, noise, and strong odors. Intermittent exposure to stress due to human behavior.
- Travel throughout the City and to other locations
- Exposure to sick, injured, vicious, or deceased animals
