What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safe School Bus Transportation Communication Monitor position at West Virginia Department of Education?
- Legally authorized individual to supervise students (for example: School Administrator, Teacher, or Aide)
- Wirt County Board of Education Employee
- Communicates with Transportation Department Staff (including Bus Operators, Transportation Supervisor, and Transportation Director), support staff, other administrators, parents, and students to ensure that student transportation Pre-K- 3rd Grade Student Transportation unloading is in accordance with policy 4336 (WVDE Transportation Policy) are followed during the course of all PM Bus Routes.
- Communicates with Bus Operator if there is not a responsible party at the assigned bus stop for Pre-K- 3rd Grade Student Unloading per policy 4336, or disciplinary removal from the bus is necessary for any student (regardless of grade level).
- After the monitor communicates with the parent or guardian, the monitor will remain at the school until the parent, guardian, or responsible party can arrive to transport the student(s) home. This step is only necessary if the bus driver, school, transportation supervisor, and director can confirm a time for responsible party to arrive and arrangements were made with the parents to pick-up the student(s) at assigned school location.
- Access and working knowledge of WVEIS 2.0 to communicate with all three schools (Wirt County Primary Center, Middle School, and High School).
- Other duties as needed
- If monitor is absent, or unable to fulfill their duties on a particular school day or days, they must make arrangement for coverage on this day or these days.
