Senior Accountant

Job Title: Senior Accountant Location: CityScape What you'll do: The position of Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the accounting and financial reporting of the Company. This position reports to a Financial Reporting Manager as well as collaborating with other members of the accounting staff on a range of matters, such as monthly GL close including preparation of schedules, journal entries, reconciliation, SEC reporting, regulatory reporting, or other assigned projects. This position also ensures compliance with SOX, all policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations. What we are looking for: Work closely with Managers to complete the month-end, quarter-end and annual close process. Provide support to all assigned areas in the Accounting Department where service or assistance is needed. Oversee various areas of GL Operational Accounting as assigned: FX, Loans, Leases, Reconciliations, Accruals, FA, etc. Assist in accounting for complex transactions such as loan sales, FA acquisitions and disposals, goodwill impairment valuations, and other transactions that require research and analysis. Assist with interpretation and implementation of accounting pronouncement changes. Interface with management, external auditors and regulatory agencies concerning accounting and SOX requirements. May be asked to participate in system conversion or enhancements, requiring user acceptance testing, providing feedback to IT programmers, and training other staff member on the new process / system What you need to have: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business is required. Seven (7 ) years accounting experience with progressively increased responsibility, preferably within a financial services firm, is required. Minimum of two (2) years public accounting experience is preferred. CPA license (or CPA path) is preferred. Thorough understanding of GAAP is required. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Exceptional analytical and organization skills. Effectively interact with all levels within the Company and subsidiaries. Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Access.
