What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Western Building Products?

- Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services.
- Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with manager or other resources to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production.
- Rebuild machines and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement of purchased parts.
- Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting, and aligning operations.
- Perform maintenance on the buildings, facilities, and the grounds.
- Assist to determine the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion.
- Maintain required maintenance logs and files.
- Able to lift at 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
- Perform routine housekeeping activities in the department and ensure adherence to established safety procedures and requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all machinery.
PPE: Requires the use of safety shoes, safety glasses, and ear protection.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a broad knowledge of mechanical repair and maintenance. Minimum one year experience as a Maintenance Technician.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Able to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write standard documentation. Able to speak effectively to train groups of employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY: Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
SKILLS: Able to operate various tools and equipment including various hand and power tools, metal fabrication equipment, welding equipment, plumbing equipment, and various measuring equipment.
