This position is responsible for follow up with payers to ensure timely resolution of all outstanding claims via phone, emails, fax, or websites.
Essential Functions
- Forecast and trend denials.
- Advises supervisor of trends in order to improve processes within the department.
- Follow up on denials aggressively with focus on AR reduction, payer timely filing limits, and contract requirements.
- Process requests for medical records accurately.
- Compile supporting documentation and effectively communicate reconsideration requests to payers.
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain the responsible AR with no more than 30% over 90 days.
- Maintain a positive rapport with all customers and coworkers.
- Appropriately handles all telephone and email communications.
- Support the Medical Center's Mission. Vision, and Philosophy positively.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One-year medical billing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate with various insurance payers.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
