To perform a variety of general technical and clerical tasks in the maintenance and documentation of financial aid information; to assist in the planning, developing, implementing, and administering of all financial aid programs; to disseminate financial aid information to students; and to assist students, staff, and the general public in the interpretation of financial aid program policies and procedures.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: Provide information to students regarding financial aid programs, including but not limited to federal and state grants, federal loan programs, work programs, scholarships, third-party assistance; eligibility requirements and application processes that are in compliance with federal and state student aid regulations, institutional policies, WNCC Foundation requirements, and third-party provider requirements.; interpret and explain the college's financial aid policies and procedures to students.Provide initial contact for financial aid information; respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and administration utilizing exemplary customer service techniques and applying college, Federal, and State policies and regulations as determined to be appropriate; direct more complex inquiries to financial aid professional or administrative staff.; screen and advise applicants for proper reference to financial aid programs.Provide primary responsibility for use of imaging system, designated workflows, and processing of incoming documents using the system. This includes reviewing documents as they arrive in the office, logging documents and forwarding to student’s electronic files and into the proper workflows within stringent deadlines for timely processing.Send award and status notifications to students as assigned. Contact high school counselors regarding board of governors’ and outstanding leadership scholarship nominations; provide high school counselors a list of students’ scholarships awarded with certificates for graduation ceremony.Sign off on graduation checklist verifying Exit Counseling is completed.Provide information to students and staff regarding student employment process; how to apply for a social security number; collect and review employment documents submitted; determine student eligibility for student work positions, prepare authorizations for signature and transmission to payroll department, supervisors, and students.Answer student inquiries about financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress status in accordance with federal student aid regulations and college policies and procedures; provide information to students regarding financial aid appeal process; prepare Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals to committee for review; prepare appeal agreements.Schedule student appointments with a financial aid advisor.Provide financial aid resource information to students; create and post flyers re: FAFSA priority deadline and scholarship application deadline for all three campuses.Complete financial aid verification for third-party student aid providers (ex: housing assistance).Make reminder calls of balances due and advise students of financial assistance options.Educate students about how to navigate their student portal to access financial aid information, student account statement, authorization for release of information, unofficial transcripts, work study/student employment training, etc.Assist with reviewing financial aid forms and notifications to help ensure they meet federal student aid regulations.Keep office supplies stocked.Maintain student records, whether in paper or electronic format, in accordance with Federal, State, and college policies and procedures; purge files according to federal and state retention requirements.Run reports and examine for variances as assigned. Provide training to Financial Aid Receptionist and Welcome Center student workers to be able to address basic financial aid inquiries. Perform a wide variety of general clerical work; maintain accurate and detailed records; file, type and word process reports, letters. Explain financial aid payments and related billing charges to students.Participate in financial aid trainings and workshops.Review reports and perform projects as requested.Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
