Job Summary
- Responsible for providing and promoting programs for fire and rescue personnel.
- Responsible for providing assistance to all Workforce Development & Continuing Education personnel in support of their respective roles.
- Maintain status as a “Delivery Agency” with the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission.
- Establish a good working relationship with students, staff and agencies.
- Attend meetings and workshops to enhance knowledge and understanding of program requirements.
- Serve on boards and committees as appointed.
- Interview and select part-time instructors.
- Orient instructors to policies and procedures.
- Secure class locations and procure training supplies and equipment.
- Provide security of testing materials for certification programs.
- Prepare test packets and grade tests for certification programs.
- Advertise training programs through target marketing.
- Visit classes in accordance with the Workforce Development & Continuing Education Internal Audit Plan.
- Review class/instructor evaluations and recommend pay increases.
- Participate in local associations and departments for program area needs.
- Set up and register classes.
- Serve as liaison between students, instructors and OSFM staff for certification issues.
- Coordinate special classes and events as necessary through OSFM, NCEM and the local fire college.
- Assist instructors with course needs both on and off campus.
- Secure and administer grants for Emergency Service Programs.
- Work with local, state and private agencies to develop, operate and manage the Emergency Service Training Center.
- Maintain emergency service training equipment owned by the college.
- Develop new program subject areas as the need arises.
- Develop, enhance and promote online/hybrid learning opportunities for emergency service personnel.
Hiring Range – Minimum to Midpoint ($3,682 – 4,603/monthly)
Minimum Qualifications
- Education, background, and/or training equivalent to a two-year technical/community college degree required.
- Good knowledge and understanding of emergency training programs required.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal relations skills.
