THE GROWTH YOU HELP PROVIDE AS SENIOR LIVING RECREATION DIRECTOR
This is a full-time senior resident position with weekday hours, offering you the perfect balance between work and life.
As our Senior Living Recreation Director, you'll start by planning a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests, abilities, and preferences of our senior residents. From organizing and leading fitness classes, you'll ensure that our recreational offerings cover the six dimensions of wellness: physical, social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and occupational. Throughout the day, you'll coordinate the logistics of recreational events, including scheduling, ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available, and arranging transportation.
You'll collaborate closely with other staff members, such as caregivers and department leaders, to ensure that recreational activities complement the overall care and wellness plans of our residents. Your role will also involve overseeing a team of activity staff and volunteers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure smooth and effective activity implementation. Additionally, you'll manage the recreation department budget, allocating funds for supplies, equipment, and special events.
OUR IDEAL SENIOR LIVING RECREATION DIRECTOR
- Experience as a therapeutic recreation specialist or eligibility for certification by a recognized accrediting body
- 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, with one year of full-time experience in an activities program in a health care setting, OR completion of an activity director training course approved by the National Association for Activity Professionals or the National Therapeutic Recreation Society
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively plan and coordinate activities
- Compassion and empathy toward older adults, along with a genuine desire to enhance their quality of life
