Welding Instructor

Job Summary

Our instructors are responsible for providing leadership in instruction, safety, production, and quality control in alignment with Western Welding Academy’s vision and core values. They are responsible for providing learning and direction for instructor assistants and the entire student body in operating a safe and efficient shop. It is essential that the instructor work collaboratively with other instructors and the Lead Instructor to enforce and abide by all Western Welding Academy’s policies and standards. The instructor shall model and communicate the mission/vision and core values to all stakeholders, staff, and students. Instructors will consistently evaluate student progress toward curriculum goals and objectives. The instructor shall report directly to the Lead Instructor on all issues.

Applicants must have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, possess strong leadership skills, strong written and oral communication skills and possess basic technology skills. Pay scale $30.00-$37.00 per hour depending on your skill level and which of the 2 shifts you are assigned to work.

Minimum Qualifications:

· 7 years’ experience welding pipe and/or structural in the field

· Testing is required

· 6” uphill and downhill 6G

· 2” XX Combo 6G (Tig root/Tig hot/7018 for the rest of the way out)

· 2” sch 80 stainless 6G or 2” Carbon tig

· Valid driver’s license/two forms of ID

· Must be able to work with young adults with different backgrounds

· Willing to be CPR and first aid certified

· Strong communication skills

· Ability to work under pressure

· Must be able to perform other job duties when necessary

· Must be able to work with a diverse set of teams including Instructors, Sales, Marketing, HR, Safety, social media

Physical Requirements:

Instructors need to stand, walk, and lift materials up to 50 pounds. Shifts are 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. Instructors must be willing to work overtime and be flexible to switch shifts as needed.

Working Conditions:

Instructors may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed to attend events the Academy might hold.
