Job Description
The Nurse Aide Trainer will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program ( NNAAP ) examination. The trainer must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The Trainer will teach a minimum of 72 hours of classroom/lab instruction and/or 56 hours of clinical experience in a Pennsylvania State licensed long-term care facility that is in compliance with OBRA . Must be approved by the Department of Education before teaching begins. The Trainer will also assist in the recruitment and selection of the Nurse Aid Candidates, is responsible for classroom set up including student documents, paperwork, handouts, etc. Other duties may include scanning, filing, and follow up documentation.

Essential Job Functions
- Reviews curriculum on an annual basis at a minimum and revise as necessary
- Ensure quizzes, tests, and all instructional materials are relevant to the curriculum
- Recruits and selects Nurse Aid Candidates
- Assists with resolving student issues
- Guides other trainers to ensure the program objectives are met
- Provides remedial assistance to students as needed
- Participates in the review process conducted by PDE
- Maintains supplies/equipment required to teach competencies effectively
- Teaches at least 51% of the total program hours (co-primary teaches 49% or less of the total program hours)
- Completes all classroom documentation per PDE guidelines
- Assess student paperwork for program eligibility
- Completes all classroom preparation
- Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
- A minimum of two years of nursing experience; At least one of the two years must be in long-term care. Experience includes direct care, supervision, or education in meeting residents’ psychosocial, behavioral, cognitive, and physical needs. (Candidate applications/resumes must list the name and address of the long-term care facility in which a minimum of one year of experience was obtained and a minimum of 200 hours over 12 months.)
- Completion of Teaching-The-Educator workshop (must be done before teaching Nurse Aid students)
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- PA Criminal Record Check Clearance
- FBI Federal Criminal History Record Clearance
- Negative 2-step Mantoux, chest x-ray, or QuantiFERON TB Gold
