Sr Accountant Treasury

The Opportunity:

The Treasury Senior Accountant is responsible for the accounting activities related to all cash transactions including debt, interest, and a large pool of cash accounts. This role reports to the Manager, Treasury Accounting and works closely with the treasury department and business partners across various areas. This critical position has significant impact on bank reconciliations and presentation of cash in financial statements. Additionally, this position plays a key role in establishing the future vision of the Treasury Accounting Team.

How you will impact WestRock:

• Analyze and record transactions to properly reconcile debt and interest with provision of relevant information and reports
• Assist with cash accounts and ensuring proper recording and reconciling of bank statements against the GL on a timely basis
• Work with treasury and local facilities around the globe to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for cash activities with a high degree of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines
• Support treasury in ensuring proper recording of hedging and funding activities
• Determine and apply proper accounting related to movement in cash, debt, and interest via WestRock financial system (JDE)
• Become a subject matter expert regarding treasury accounting activities as it relates to period close accounting processes and account reconciliations (BlackLine)
• Assist with and research treasury activities to include inquiries from internal and external auditors
• Perform ad hoc analysis on reconciling items, working with other areas to identify and resolve issues
• Collaborate with business partners across various areas to identify and remediate process inefficiencies that are causing a high number of reconciling items

• Explore continuous improvement initiatives including robotic process automation, matching automation (BlackLine) and journal entry automation (Bellin/Coupa)
• Ensure compliance to applicable internal controls

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 3-5 years of progressively more complex roles in accounting, including within a shared service environment
• Experience with month end close processes
• Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Experience with JD Edwards/ SAP / Hyperion HFM and Essbase / Bellin/Coupa / BlackLine, Alteryx, Power Platform
• Support department initiatives, goals, and demonstrate the ability to work with cross functional teams
• Strong critical thinking skills – listening, compiling facts, and building consensus to bring conclusion to issues
• Self-starter with an ability to lead
• Must be flexible and adaptable
