Fitness Center Desk Attendant
Reports to: Director of Fitness & Wellness
Education and/or Experience: High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Ensures that the Westwood Country Club Fitness Center is an inviting place that is well-stocked, clean, and user-friendly for all Members.
Westwood Country Club and Fitness Facilities
Westwood Country Club was founded in 1954 and is a member-owned, full-service, family-oriented club that has been established to provide its membership with outstanding recreational, dining and social opportunities. Westwood Country Club is a 157-acre property with an elegantly appointed clubhouse, an 18-hole golf course, a tennis facility (indoor and outdoor courts), fitness center and a swimming facility. Westwood offers a superior location on Maple Avenue, in close proximity to Tyson’s Corner.
The new Fitness center will be a major improvement to the Club’s current facility and will feature a welcoming lobby and reception space with a limited retail display, a large multi-functional group instruction room, a multi-purpose yoga room, a spin studio, and 6,000 square feet of brand-new cardio and strength equipment from Life Fitness.
Job Tasks/Duties
- Greets Members upon entry of the fitness center; has them sign in; answers telephones and maintain files of program cards, intake forms and other information.
- Cleans the fitness center area and wipes down fitness equipment as often as needed.
- Attends required trainings and regular monthly staff meetings; assists in special events.
- Maintains cleanliness of fitness lobby
- Monitors class attendance and class registration and/or cancellation.
- Assists in operation of various fitness equipment and can provide education to Members.
- Promotes fitness center services, including but not limited to: personal training, group fitness classes, massage therapy, physical therapy, and nutrition counseling.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
- Assists the Director of Fitness & Wellness in initial and continued development of services within the Fitness Center.
- Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Director of Fitness & Wellness.
Licenses and/or Special Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- CPR, AED and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an customer-facing environment, which is typical of this position.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
- Frequent repetitive motions (e.g., shoe shining).
- Continuous standing and walking.
- Able to lift, pull or push 50 pounds.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $12.00 per hour
