THE CORE OF THE POSITION
The Material Handler will be responsible for material handling, cutting & movement of raw materials and finished parts.
Read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, written or verbal instructions and even napkin sketches.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive raw material deliveries, unloading trucks and putting materials in their final locations
- Organization and cleanliness of material yards
- Accurately setting up and aligning the saw to produce a safe, productive quality cuts
- Maintaining proper cutting parameters – direction, tension, and speed
- Organize and cut orders in a timely manner according to specifications
- Identifying to supervisor when material levels are getting low to trigger re-order
- Minimize the amount of scrap by maintaining optimal accuracy while cutting
- Follow established safety procedures for all assignments
- Comply with all Company requirements for conduct and work behavior
- Perform startups, shut downs, inspection, oiling on critical points, and repairs
- Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned
- Works in other areas as instructed
EDUCATION, TRAINING, SKILLS:
- 3 years of material handling experience using fork lift, company trucks, pallete jacks
- 1 year of experience operating a saw
- Read blue prints, use tape measurer
- Self-motivated and capable and willing to work independently
- Willingness to cross-strain on other saws and shop equipment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Clean D.M.V. record to drive company trucks
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs
- Stand a minimum of 8 hours per day
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
