Weyerhaeuser Company is currently recruiting for Shipping Forklift Operators. This operational role is key in safely ensuring the effective and efficient handling of materials, resulting in the quality lumber that will be shipped to our customers.

Key Functions

• Safely and effectively perform tasks as directed by supervisor.
• Safely and effectively operates machine centers as assigned in the sawmill and planer mill at production levels.
• Safely and effectively maintain housekeeping that will include cleaning debris from equipment, shoveling sawdust and any other housekeeping duties assigned.
• Monitors flow of material to and from the machine center and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure production quality and quantity standards are met.
• Coordinates the flow of production and helps where needed.
• May support maintenance team members with troubleshooting and repairs as necessary
• Identifies and helps resolve other production flow problems.
• Assists in maintaining housekeeping standards
• May flow to work at machine centers where qualified to do so

• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Responsible for monitoring the production process from the dry bins to shipping staging and loading of trucks and rail cars
• Ability to become a certified forklift operator

• learn and effectively operate controls and equipment
• Complete a daily forklift maintenance check list.
• Check oil and water levels, and refuel the vehicle with propane as needed.
• Take the forklift to the rolling stock mechanic if a problem is encountered with the operating condition.
• Repair damaged lumber bundles,
• Assure that units are properly strapped.
• Complete paperwork by completing tag, designating information including the date, shift, board thickness, time, grade, height of bundle, bundle number, and hand staple the tag to the bundle.
• Perform cleanup activities including sweeping, picking up trash, blowing down area, and it is essential to take trash hopper to disposal area with the forklift.
• Assist other personnel as directed.
• Take sample boards to quality control and replace removed board with a replacement board to complete the bundle.
• work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
• work at heights, in adverse weather conditions, and in challenging physical positions without issue
• Willingness to cross-train with other positions to create talent depth in the department.
• Able to perform all essential job functions, lifting 2-20 pounds regularly, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, climb steps and ladders, and standing or walking for 2-3 hours at a time for 10 hours
• Able to work safely and follow all company policies and procedures
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Good decision-making skills
• Able to conduct visual equipment inspections and support maintenance in troubleshooting / repairs
• Able to perform basic calculations
• Ability to operate machinery
• Able to work second shift (5 pm - 4 am), weekends, overtime, holidays as needed
• Able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, while wearing safety equipment
• Successful completion of assessment process, background check and post-offer pre-employment drug screen and physical
