Machinist CNC Setup Operator

Job Summary:
The CNC Machinist Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision metal parts according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, blueprints, and inspection tools to ensure high-quality, efficient production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, or other machinery based on job specifications and blueprints.

• Load programs, install tooling, and make machine offsets and adjustments as needed.

• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools.

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

• Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain tolerances and surface finish requirements.

• Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues during setup and production runs.

• Maintain clean and organized workstations and adhere to all safety procedures.

• Communicate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members about production issues or improvements.

• Complete required documentation, such as setup sheets and inspection logs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications a plus.

• 2–5 years of CNC machining and setup experience preferred.

• Proficient in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and machining instructions.

• Strong knowledge of measurement tools and inspection procedures.

• Experience with G-code and machine control panels (e.g., Fanuc, Mazak, Haas).

• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
