Job Summary:
The CNC Machinist Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision metal parts according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, blueprints, and inspection tools to ensure high-quality, efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, or other machinery based on job specifications and blueprints.
Load programs, install tooling, and make machine offsets and adjustments as needed.
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain tolerances and surface finish requirements.
Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues during setup and production runs.
Maintain clean and organized workstations and adhere to all safety procedures.
Communicate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members about production issues or improvements.
Complete required documentation, such as setup sheets and inspection logs.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications a plus.
2–5 years of CNC machining and setup experience preferred.
Proficient in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and machining instructions.
Strong knowledge of measurement tools and inspection procedures.
Experience with G-code and machine control panels (e.g., Fanuc, Mazak, Haas).
Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
