What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Account Manager position at WGB Group?
Associate Account Manager – Big Box Retail / CPG
WGB Group is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Account Manager to join our team, supporting national account programs across leading home improvement retailers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry while gaining first-hand experience working with major big box retailers and national brand manufacturers.
In this role, you’ll work closely with sales directors to support the day-to-day execution of retail programs. You’ll help manage key account communications, assist in item setup and maintenance, track product performance, and prepare reporting and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Along the way, you’ll gain exposure to the full product lifecycle—from sourcing and manufacturing through retail execution—building a foundational understanding of how CPG brands partner with retailers to bring products to market.
This position is ideal for someone who’s curious about the inner workings of big box retail, enjoys diving into data, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll build cross-functional experience with sales, supply chain, marketing, and merchandising, and develop the skills needed to grow into a strategic account management role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support account leads in managing relationships with big box home improvement retailers
- Assist in preparing business reviews, sales reports, promotional calendars, and retail execution plans
- Coordinate item setup, packaging updates, and product data management
- Monitor sales performance and analyze market trends to identify growth opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams to support product launches, inventory planning, and promotional execution
- Help manage retailer portals and ensure accurate, up-to-date product listings
- Track competitive activity, pricing, and market dynamics in the home and hardware space
What You’ll Gain:
- A hands-on education in the CPG industry, with a front-row seat to how products move through national retail channels
- Exposure to major retailers’ systems, merchandising strategies, and performance expectations
- Experience working across departments with supply chain, product development, and marketing teams
- Mentorship from experienced sales leaders who are invested in your long-term development
We’re looking for someone who is organized, proactive, eager to learn, and excited to roll up their sleeves in a dynamic and evolving retail landscape. If you're passionate about brands, retail, and turning insights into impact, we’d love to hear from you. This is a full time position with competitive salary.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in sales support, retail account management, supply chain, or a related field (CPG or retail experience strongly preferred)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into insights and actions
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and basic reporting tools; familiarity with retail portals or POS data platforms is a plus
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication skills and comfort presenting information to both internal and external teams
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred
