Wheeling University, a vibrant Catholic institution invites applications for Human Resources Generalist.  The successful candidate must be committed to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete and be able to support and promote the University's Mission.

The Human Resources  Generalist will provide daily support to the Human Resources Department, employees, students, and faculty of the University.  The successful candidate will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, work with little supervision, independently, and as also as a team player.  The Human Resources Generalist will provide support to the University by:

  • Posting open positions, scheduling, and participating in interviews both in-person and virtual
  • Onboarding of new hires - I9 processing, background checks, orientation
  • Benefits administration - enrollment of new hires, removal of terminated participants
  • Open enrollment processing
  • Process monthly benefits invoices for payments
  • Provide reports and information for audits, working with the Business office and other departments
  • Maintain and update employee records to assure proper work status, pay, and benefits
  • Update and distribute materials to employees as needed
  • Understanding of employee confidentiality

The Human Resources Generalist will maintain strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to meet deadlines, problem-solve, and work well with co-workers, other departments, and students in a professional manner.


Education/Experience:

A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one to three years of related experience is required.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, email, and web-based applications; the ability to become proficient with specific departmental software.  Knowledge of working with Paycom is a plus.
