Position Summary:
White Bird's Harm Reduction Treatment Center is a key element of Lane County's new framework for substance abuse treatment and will locate offices for all SUD-related services under one roof to provide timely, low-barrier access to care. Providing comprehensive, whole-person care in a holistic 'one-stop' facility will significantly reduce barriers for individuals seeking harm reduction and/or substance use disorder (SUD) treatment.
The Harm Reduction Treatment Center (HRTC) Peer Support Specialist provides essential guidance and support to clients, both on-site and within the community, to mitigate barriers to harm reduction and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. They ensure respectful interactions between staff and clients, in alignment with White Bird standards. Responsibilities include data entry, promoting safety and security, and maintaining the facility according to organizational standards.
Position Responsibilities
Collaborate with the HRTC Site Manager to ensure a safe and secure environment for both internal and external areas.
Engage with a diverse group of stakeholders across the organization to ensure efficient and seamless service delivery.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the services provided by the organization.
Demonstrate appropriate behavior and establish boundaries during client interactions to uphold the philosophy of care.
Maintain accurate documentation and records for all client encounters.
Complete Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) and service plans for potential motel voucher clients.
Track and document success stories to support grant reporting.
Participate in daily and weekly team meetings.
Participate in outreach services tailored to the specific needs of the community, focusing on underserved populations.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Comprehensive understanding of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
Ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions in high-stress situations.
Strong organizational skills for accurate documentation and record-keeping.
Proficiency in completing Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) processes and service plans.
Required Qualifications
Valid Driver's license
Peer Support credentialing is required in the SUD field
At least six (6) months of experience working with SUD programs
Experience working with clients who are homeless, have substance use disorders, and/or mental health concerns
De-escalation and crisis-trained
Must have a valid driver's license and a driver record that would be eligible for company vehicle insurance
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with people representing diverse backgrounds economically and educationally are critical to success in this role.
Functional knowledge of both HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
Ability to think and act clearly in high-stress situations
Ability to stand for up to 8 hours at a time.
Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered with the Oregon Health Authority for Traditional Health Worker status
Bilingual
Register with MHACBO as a Certified Recovery Mentor within the first week of employment
Willing to obtain dual credentials as a mental health peer
2 years of minimum Non-profit or Human Services field experience
Experience serving diverse or marginalized populations
Experience in reporting data into data systems
Compensation Details:
This is a non-exempt position with a target starting base compensation of $18-20 DOE per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.
This position requires successful passage of a State mandated background check.
Salary : $18 - $20
