What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Companion position at White Horse Village?
White Horse Village (WHV), a prestigious retirement community located in Newtown Square, PA is seeking to add a Caregiver Support Person to their team! This position is flexible with full-time, part-time, and per diem positions opportunities available.
Duties:
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLS), encouraging maximum independence:
- Dressing/undressing.
- Bathing/showering.
- Personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail care, hair care, foot care).
- Mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches)
- Monitors safe transfer and ambulation techniques.
- Care of equipment such as eyeglasses, contact lenses and hearing aids.
- Incontinence care.
- Provide assistance with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLS):
- Telephone—assist with calls, hearing and vision adaptive devices
- Housekeeping tasks such as tidying room, dusting, bed making and ironing
- Laundry
- Coordinates transportation
- Shopping, errands, medical appointments, etc…
- Meal preparation
- Making appointments
- Provide reminders or cues to take medications.
- Assist with dining—obtain meals, assist with set-up and with meal consumption as needed.
- Assist with health maintenance and monitoring tasks:
- Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition, cognitive and emotional status to supervisor or Outpatient Department as needed.
- Monitor for environmental safety hazards.
- Report to Program Coordinator or Director of Social Services as appropriate.
Requirements:
- At least one year of experience in similar role or responsibilities preferred
- Ability to manage time and prioritize
- Impeccable customer service skills
- Must posses a valid drivers license
- Flexibility in scheduling and availability is a requirement
- Certified Nursing Assistant a plus!
