Reporting to the Yeast Production Supervisor, the Brewing Production Technician is trained on, and responsible for several aspects of the yeast production cycle and beer production. This includes tasks within wort production, pre-production or yeast propagation. This position’s primary role is in the brewhouse but may also assist with other aspects of yeast production.
Essential Functions and Duties
Clean Room and Brewing:
· Operates all brewing equipment to produce wort that meets specifications for yeast propagation.
· Ensures quality of wort throughout process by following all established SOPs and documenting deviations. Completes all necessary process documentation accurately and on time.
· Performs routine CIP and maintenance on process piping and equipment to deliver sterile wort to yeast propagation systems. Performs CIP on all brewing equipment/fermenters.
· Assembles and fills 400L, and seed vessels in accordance with SOPs in addition to reporting deviations to this process to the supervisor.
· Has knowledge of all required NetSuite transactions and ensures all data entry is performed.
· Continuously improves daily efficiency within the team.
· Ensures materials needed are acquired daily.
· Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
Beer Production:
· Assists with the brewing and cellaring process of beers.
· Performs gravity readings, cell counts, forced diacetyl testing per SOPs.
· Performs CIP of brewhouse, fermentation tanks, and kegs according to SOPs.
· Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
Pre-Production/Non-Cleanroom:
· Assists with required materials and equipment needing to be sterilized.
· Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· 2 year of experience working in a brewery, preferably in a brewing/production capacity.
· Formal brewing education preferred but not required.
· Knowledge of aseptic technique.
· Ability to read and follow SOPs required.
· Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
Employee may, or may not, have a workstation or office. Time spent conducting sedentary work is less than 25%. Requires walking, standing, bending, and squatting for more than 75% of the workday. Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work environment is wet/humid, and position may encounter hot/cold conditions.
Required PPE:
· Non-slip shoes.
· Gowns, hair/beard nets.
· Safety goggles.
· Laboratory coat.
*Hours: 4 days a week, 10 hours a day, but subject to change to 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.
**Pay Range: $20 - $24 per hour depending on experience.
