Job Summary:  Serves patients by preparing medications; assists pharmacists, multidisciplinary health care team, and patients with medication-related issues; assists pharmacists with MTM’s, maintaining medication inventory and clinic formulary, 340 B compliance. Communication:  Good verbal and written communication skills are required for this position.  The information must be exchanged using tact and persuasion appropriately.  He or she must be detail-oriented, organized, and a problem solver.  The person in this position must be able to communicate with the patients, staff, and others; and contribute to a positive environment.   The ability to communicate in Spanish, Creole or both is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:  

1. Supports the provision of pharmacy services by transcribing and assembling prescription orders.
2. Compounds, packages, and labels pharmaceuticals to be dispensed under pharmacist supervision.
3. Communicates with patients and outside pharmacies/healthcare providers for medication reconciliation.
4. Assists patients with medication access and adherence issues utilizing appropriate resources.
5. Maintains pharmacy inventory stock levels, anticipates necessary medications and supplies, places orders, receives and updates inventory, as well as removes outdated medications.
6. Assists pharmacist with ordering, and maintenance of 340B/standard virtual inventory.
7. Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing data.
8. Maintains medical records by recording and filing prescribers’ orders and prescriptions.  Maintains a secure, safe, and clean workspace by adhering to regulations, infection control, policy, and procedure.
9. Prioritizes workload and works effectively with minimal supervision.
10. Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.
11. Communicates with insurance carriers to obtain prior authorizations and resolve disputes.
12. May occasionally need to travel from one clinic to another for coverage.
13. Assists pharmacist with other duties, as needed.

Education & Training:

1. A high school diploma or GED is required
2. Active Florida Pharmacy Technician License in good standing required.
3. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.

Experience:  

1. At least 2 years in a community health center, community pharmacy, or hospital setting
2. 340B Drug Program knowledge and experience preferred
3. Working knowledge of medical terminology and brand/generic drug names

Requirements:

1. WFHC requires all employees, volunteers, and contracted individuals working full or part-time at any of our facilities to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
2. Level 2 background clearance required
3. Must have all necessary vaccinations, a PPD Test will be done once upon hire.
