The Wichita Children’s Home is looking to hire Full-time Empowerment Counselors (direct care staff). These positions would be working in our 6 Residential Programs for children and youth in foster care and experiencing homelessness.
We offer a competitive hourly range of $15.00-$16.50 based on education and experience plus an additional $1 shift differential for all 2nd shift schedules and all shifts on the weekends.
RESPONSBILITIES
- Provide quality care and supervision to children and youth ages 10-24 while assisting with daily living activities
- Facilitate program and recreational activities
- Provide support, mentorship, and guidance to the youth
- Prepare meals and perform routine facility cleaning and laundry
- Provide transportation to and from various appointments and activities in the community
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of work
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN EMPOWERMENT COUNSELOR
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in youth services and experiencing serving at-risk youth (volunteer experience counts!)
- Crisis intervention training
- Understanding the needs of children and adolescents
- Current driver's license and proof of insurance
- First aid/CPR certification
- Heart for youth services
