What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Secretary position at Wickers, Wickers & Admans LLP?
Seeking a Legal Secretary for Law Practice including three attorneys in Torrance, California. Currently, 35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. The job description includes, but is not limited to, answering phones, typing correspondence and pleadings, working on various court filings, transcribing dictation, assisting clients, assisting attorneys with client needs, organizing files, and compiling discovery.
We are looking for someone with 4 years of legal work experience or an undergraduate degree, with the following qualifications:
- • Answering incoming telephone calls and direct all calls as need;
- Must be able to use, with skill and speed, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat;
- Type 65 wpm - Typing Test Required;
- Must demonstrate professional verbal communication skills;
- Experience with all manners of office organization, including but not limited to: 1) client file organization, 2) supply orders, 3) maintaining the common areas;
- Must be detail oriented;
- Keep track of the calendar and keep attorneys informed of upcoming hearings, meetings, and statutory deadlines etc. each week;
- Able to prioritize and manage deadlines, while anticipating next steps and upcoming deadlines;
- Assisting with document preparation by transcribing dictation, editing, formatting, spell checking, organizing multiple PDFs and bookmarking in Adobe, inserting Table of Contents and Table of Authorities in Microsoft Word, serving documents in accordance with law, and uploading documents for filing with the Court via efiling websites;
- Assisting with drafting discovery requests and responses, and compiling records for production;
- Experience assisting clients and assisting attorneys with client needs;
- Organize client files – both physical and electronic – familiarity with Clio a plus;
- Professional attire required;
- Familiarity with legal forms ie: Judicial Council Forms;
- Keep track of Attorney time - TimeSlips and LawPay knowledge a plus;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and friendly demeanor; and
- Great time management skills.
