What are the responsibilities and job description for the Juvenile Probation Officer position at Willacy County Juvenile Probation?
The position will primarily consist of initiating intakes, conducting home, school and office visits, administering risk assessments, arranging for direct services and providing appropriate supervision to all juveniles referred to the department. Offers recommendations regarding court proceedings, in addition to preparing needed documentation for cases scheduled for detention and court hearings; and testify before the court, if required. Other duties consist of providing victim services as well as assisting with implementation of department programs. Annual salary will be based on qualifications. Qualifications are as follows:
1. Have acquired a bachelor’s degree conferred by a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in Criminal Justice, Social or Behavioral Sciences or a directly related field;
2. Previous case management is preferred;
3. Minimum 21 years of age;
4. Must have a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation;
5. Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, and understanding) in English; knowledge of Spanish is preferred;
6. Good organizational skills, interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other county employees and elected officials;
7. Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner;
8. Be available for on-call on a rotating basis and subject to irregular work hours;
9. Some travel required;
10. Subject to and pass criminal background check.

Pay: $46,000.00 - $48,232.00 per year
