MORE DETAILS ABOUT "A DAY IN THE LIFE" AT WILLES ORTHODONTICS
Willes Orthodontics in downtown Carlsbad, California, is a medium-small private practice, where our awesome chairside assistants fulfill an interesting variety of duties. In addition to the vitial role you will play as a kind, knowledgeable orthodontic caregiver and experienced chairside assistant to Dr. Willes, you will also be charting, taking notes, and scheduling on our chairside computers; scanning, taking x-rays, photographs (and rarely, an alginate impression); communicating patient progress, giving instructions on braces wear and care, oral hygiene, etc; answering patient questions and offering encouragement; setting up workstations; processing sterilization; contributing your thoughts and ideas in our staff meetings; helping with fun special patient events and gift deliveries to our referring offices; assisting with front desk duties; working together to do quick office cleaning at the end of the day; and being an upbeat representative of Willes Orthodontics.
And because we have a smaller office and team, everyone working well together is very important to us, so we strive to have the whole staff cross-trained and able to step in to help, whatever needs may arise.
There will also be occasional required paid trainings, for OSHA, CPR recertification, etc., on non-patient days. An x-ray license is also important.
In addition to specific orthodontic skills, we also want you to be an ambassador for the office, spreading kindness, gratitude and goodwill to those you interact with, whether that be a team-member, patient, Dr. Willes or a member of the community. We genuinely love what we do, and we want our entire team to sense the important confidence-building, life-changing service that orthodontics can provide. We want our office to be a safe place where our patients know they will get wonderful orthodontic care AND genuine human concern.
The orthodontic assistant job at Willes Orthodontics requires skilled and gentle hands, clear vision, an attentive mind, a kind heart, and the ability to communicate well with and appreciate others, a professional appearance and demeanor, basic tech skills, as well being able to tolerate physical activity throughout the day which may require standing, bending, stooping, carrying, sitting, for long periods, etc. Integrity of character is also essential to us at Willes Ortho. And of all these things we ask, we also strive to do and be, too.
Please let us know if you feel like you would be a good fit for Willes Orthodontics. We look forward to having another awesome chairside assistant to be part of our team.
p.s. Laughing at Dr. Willes’s pathetic “dad jokes” isn’t required but encouraged. As well as joining in on “name that tune” or “what band sings this?” contests. Lol.
