Williams Mullen is seeking an experienced Research Analyst to provide research support to lawyers, paralegals, and staff. This role is part of the Research & Information Services Department that supports the firm’s research and information needs while also investigating and integrating evolving technologies into our services. This role has the potential to be a hybrid role. The Research Analyst role requires a Master of Library Science degree or JD and a minimum of 5 years of legal research experience. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesConducts legal, business, and general research and communicates findings in a clear and concise manner to attorneys and staff in all practice areasWorks collaboratively with peers, as needed in responding to research requestsAssists with the training of attorneys and staff on the effective use of legal and business research resourcesParticipates in attorney and staff onboarding and orientationSupports the initiative to deliver practice area specific information services to attorneys, including providing resources and current awareness services to meet practice groups’ current and shifting needs Troubleshoots problems with applications and online services and assists with password maintenanceParticipates in collection development, including assessing content and value of electronic resources and evolving technologies Keeps accurate records of research projects, trainings, collection development activities, and other assignments as neededAssists in the preparation and updating of research aids, user guides, bibliographies, and the library’s intranet pagesParticipates in developing and implementing library policies and proceduresParticipates in professional development through training and involvement in professional associationsWorks on special projects or other duties as assigned Requirements Master of Library Science degree or JDMinimum 5 years of legal research experienceWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent research, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail Superior customer service skills and professionalism Competency with online research services such as Westlaw, Lexis, Practical Law, Bloomberg Law, VitalLaw, PACER and HeinOnlineAbility to work well and thrive in a collaborative team environmentMust have confidence, knowledge, a positive personality, and the ability to function independentlyAbility to keep up to date with new developments, master new technologies, and adapt to change
