Responsibilities:

- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients admitted to the medical-surgical unit.
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and provide wound care.
- Educate patients and their families on medical diagnosis, pain management, and self-care.

Collaboration:
- Work seamlessly with other nurses, nurse assistants, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, surgeons, and surgical residents regarding patient status and treatment plans.

Resource Utilization:
- Leverage available resources, including nurse assistants, to optimize patient outcomes.
- Prioritize tasks efficiently to manage patient turnover.

Nurse Residency Program:
- Participate in a one-year nurse residency program designed to enhance your skills and transition you to the acute care setting.
- Engage in ongoing learning, mentorship, and professional development.
- Receive a comprehensive 12-week orientation to familiarize yourself with our hospital’s protocols, systems, and workflows.

Qualifications:

Education and Licensure:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
- Current RN licensure in Louisiana or compact licensure.

- Prior experience in medical-surgical nursing is preferred but not required.
- New graduates from nursing programs are welcome to apply.
