JOB TITLE: Salon Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Willo Salons Roseville
REPORTS TO: District Manager and Salon Owner
Primary Objective:
The Salon Supervisor at Willo Salons is passionate about the Aveda mission and creating exceptional Salon experiences, while translating this passion to our guests and our salon team. This position leads a multidisciplinary team to share beauty, fashion, and wellness- all through the power of touch and CARE. In addition, the Salon Manager is responsible for developing plans and effectively scheduling the team, to deliver exceptional guest experiences and meet salon benchmarks/goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, develop, and inspire the Salon team to consistently perform the Willo Service Cycle (#TheWilloWay) and the complete Aveda level of CARE to ensure guests have an excellent experience from beginning to end, according to operating procedures, while meeting overall Salon benchmarks.
- Monitor, train, and coach the team. Motivates and evaluates team members with positive feedback and performance expectations.
- Promotes service and retail sales and communicates goals daily.
- Manage team to ensure “on-time” service flow through effective utilization of the appointment book.
- Develop and manage the team schedule.
- Cover the Guest Service desk and lead the Salon to achieve benchmark results by example.
- Works one weekend a month (minimum) in the Salon as Manager on Duty for the company.
- Organize and facilitate: quarterly team meetings, daily huddles, one-on-one team member meetings, and training as required. The manager should be present for the daily huddles.
- Maximizing profit by managing expenses within fiscal guidelines, including operating expenses and payroll.
- Manage inventory levels and complete weekly orders within benchmarks.
- Oversee and manage salon supplies within benchmarks.
- Ensure the salon is “guest ready” at all times, which includes product presentation standards, based on Aveda’s schematic guidelines; replenishment of products, and cleaning as required. Hold service providers accountable to assist with overall salon standards.
- Plan and initiate monthly business-driving events to draw in new and existing guests.
- Serve as an Aveda expert and coach on site, regarding Aveda's mission, product knowledge, and creating an excellent Aveda service experience.
- Assist with payroll functions by ensuring the use of the time clock, reviewing timecards daily, as well as ensuring all team members take lunches per California State law.
- Actively participates in recruiting & sourcing activities to ensure the salon is properly staffed at all times.
- Drives positive salon reviews that will continue to yield new clients.
- Plan and implement effective orientation programs, and provide continued development to ensure retention of new staff.
- Ensure the salon team is present and reinforce a professional appearance, per the dress code standards.
- Complete administrative duties and weekly/monthly reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Attend meetings as required, which may involve travel.
- Takes initiative on personal growth and development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Due to our commitment to the environment, a strong alignment to the Aveda mission is essential.
- 3 years of customer service experience in a service or retail industry, including 1-2 years of previous management experience in a fast-paced environment; salon/spa experience is advantageous.
- Ability to multitask with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in coaching and developing team members.
- Highest level of professionalism and leads the Willo culture by example.
- Computer experience including retail/salon point-of-sale software, word, excel, and email.
- Ability to work retail hours including weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
- Ability to attend and satisfactorily complete all company education as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises up to 50 team members.
