Job Summary: The Softball Umpire is responsible for officiating adult softball games. Thorough knowledge of softball and applicable rules to officiate both Mens and Co-Ed Softball to ensure games run smoothly and players engage in good sportsmanship at all times. Umpires are paid on a per game basis.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Actively support the agencys risk management protocol that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Safety Committee, attend and participate in required safety trainings
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions to the immediate supervisor
- Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs
- Create a safe, engaging environment throughout the framework of softball games
- Maintain standards of the game and ensure that the Wilmette Park District softball rules are enforced
- Positively interact with team members and field supervisor
- Communicate with other Park District staff, supervisors and team leaders as needed

- Ability to project across a large area with clear and concise language
- Ability to maintain self-control and composure in high stress and/or difficult situations
Education and/or Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old with working knowledge of softball game rules
- At least one (1) year of experience umpiring softball preferred
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Must be able to work outdoors in various seasons
- Must be able to run back and forth on the field of play
- Must be available to work evenings
