Job Description:
- The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The teacher will be responsible for teaching five 45 minute classes, have one prep period, and a lunch period. Average class size of 15-18 students.
- The High School Social Studies teacher will be prepared to teach any combination of Social Studies courses, including AP courses.
- Develop and administer Social Studies education curriculum.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Secondary Social Studies Education required; Masters preferred
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification required
- Strong knowledge in the content area
- Experience teaching Middle and High School Social Studies
- Proven ability to manage a classroom while maintaining a positive learning environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
