Unarmed Security Guard

The experience and training help prepare guards for careers in municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and civil service departments. Security Guards are tasked with maintaining duty logs, recording visitor ingress, and ensuring the safety and security of facilities, and ensuring properties are free of trespassers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot
• Report incidents to proper authorities in accordance with standard operating procedures
• Aid in the early reporting of emergencies, and provide directions and informational assistance to employees, visitors, and guests
• Warn violates of rule infractions, such as loitering, or conglomerating in large groups
• Observe arriving and departing staff personnel to ensure the safety and security of the public
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
• Maintain written logs as required by the post
• Provide assistance to customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening
• Candidates must be flexible regarding schedule and work environments
• Must have the ability to react quickly to a changing environment
• Must have advanced ability to respond to security breaches and threats
• Must be comfortable kneeling, carrying, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods of time
• Be detail oriented, have a professional attitude
• Possess excellent written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to work independently
• Be fluent in the use of cell phones, texting, MS Word/Excel, and standard emailing systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Residents of Greater Boston preferred
• A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role preferred
• Knowledge of security systems and surveillance equipment preferred
• CPR, FIRST AID, AED, NARCAN, MOAB, or ACT I, II, or III Certifications highly preferred
• Associates degree or greater in Criminal Justice-related studies preferred
• Experience with documenting, observations, customer service, and security procedures preferred
• Previous concierge experience preferred
