POSITION TITLE: Sewer

DEPARTMENT: Sewing

DIRECTLY REPORTS TO: Sewing Supervisor

POSITION TYPE: FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPT, HOURLY

Job Summary:

Assemble cushions, slings and pillows to fulfill production orders

Job Functions:

• Operate sewing machine to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material
• Attach ties, hem, surge, quilt, place zippers and splines dependent upon the production schedule
• Attach binding to edges of cut material to prevent raveling
• Notify supervisor of any flaws, defects or shortages for each schedule
  
  

Experience and Attributes:

• Must be able to understand sewing patterns and fabrics
• Experience with walking foot, single and double needle industrial sewing machines
• Maintain strong sense of urgency in order to meet production deadlines
• High level of attention to detail
• Self-starter with ability to follow a schedule
• High School Diploma
• Some college or combination of education and experience to equal 3 years
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Sitting more than 2/3 of day
• Standing less than 1/3 of day
• Talking/Hearing regularly less than 2/3 of day
• Reaching frequently over 1/3 to 2/3 of day
• Use of hands to finger, handle or feel frequently over 2/3 of day
• Lifting frequently over 20 pounds
  
  

Working Conditions:

• General office environment.
• Workspace is climate controlled
