JOB SUMMARY
As a Student Success Coach, you will play a pivotal role in improving education outcomes for high school students by reinforcing good behavior, excellent attendance, and academic achievement. You will work closely with teachers to support student learning when they are struggling or need of direction – in particular, you will help students find a pathway to graduation by providing a structured system that promotes success and credit attainment at the direction of the building administration team. In collaboration with teachers, specialists, administrators, and other education stakeholders, you will work to create environments in which children receive the support they need to thrive as high school learners preparing for post-secondary opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support students from enrollment through graduation.
- Identify student-specific barriers to graduation and create interventions to support successfully graduating from Douglas High School
- Provide support to students entering the high school as 9th grade and transfer students.
- Provide support to ensure consistent attendance for students.
- Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community.
- Identifies at-risk students and determine appropriate interventions to support each student.
- Manage the in-school suspension room at Douglas High School in a way that encourages students to improve behavior, attendance, and grades to enable success in the school setting.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Collaborates with building administration team and attendance clerk to provide guidance to students and families regarding attendance.
- Closely track students’ progress for academic achievement while they are under your supervision.
- Maintain professional confidentiality regarding student data.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events as required.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay current with educational trends.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of student performance and attendance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.

- Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
- Certificates as determined by the district. Must have possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Oregon Driver License and ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software for instructional purposes.
