Job Title: Lifeguard Pay Rate: $15-$17
Job Summary: Must be an excellent swimmer along with possessing certification in American Red Cross lifeguarding, CPR and AED, and First Aid for the lifeguard. Responsible for performing lifesaving activities such as resuscitation and first aid.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain continuous surveillance of members/nonmembers in aquatics facility.
- Alert members/nonmembers who may have ventured too far or are in imminent danger.
- Supervise swimmers to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocols
- Spot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents
- Control and report unruly behavior
- Ensure that water sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing are done within the parameters of set rules and regulation
- Perform pool chemical checks to ensure safety and hygiene
- Maintain accurate records of pool use and chemical levels
- Enforce rules and regulation
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
- Keep a clean and safe environment, paddleboards, kayaks, sailboats stored correctly
- Be able to complete records and reports when needed
- Attend monthly mandatory in-service training
Knowledge, Education, Skills and Abilities:
- must be at least 16yrs old
- Maintains red cross certification in lifeguarding, CPR, AED, and First Aid,
- Obtain waterfront certification within 90 days of being hired
- Self-motivated, well organized
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with management, WPRC employees, WPRC members and Vendors.
Work context-Physical Requirements:
- Be able to stand and walk up to 8hours at a time
- Be able to lift water front and pool equipment of up to 40lbs
- Must be available to work a varying schedule of weekends, and holidays during the peak season
