Winter Timber Outdoors is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Store Manager to support the operations of our new Auburn, Alabama location (Expected to open in July 2025). The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Store Manager and play a key role in driving sales, enhancing the customer experience, and ensuring operational excellence. This position is ideal for a motivated leader with a background in retail management, especially in high-volume environments or the outdoor and shooting sports industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support daily store operations, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Assist in creating and managing employee schedules to maintain productivity and customer service standards.
- Lead and inspire store associates to achieve performance goals through training and development.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a welcoming, customer-focused environment.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to monitor inventory levels, minimize shrinkage, and enhance profitability.
- Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the store, ensuring an inviting shopping experience.
- Perform cash-handling duties, including daily reconciliations and deposits, in compliance with company procedures.
- Act as a liaison between staff and the Store Manager to address employee or operational concerns.
- Monitor and report on store performance metrics, contributing ideas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including those relevant to firearms and outdoor retail.
- Maintain open communication with vendors, customers, and the management team.
- Step into leadership duties as needed during the Store Manager’s absence.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in retail management or a supervisory role.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and leadership skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage a team.
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in the outdoor, shooting sports, or firearms retail industry is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of Federal Firearms License (FFL) regulations is a bonus.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, with an expected workload of approximately 40-45 hours per week.
- Willingness to travel temporarily to Athens, AL, for up to 60 days of training, with weekend travel home as needed.
Benefits:
- Annual Paid Time Off (PTO)/Sick Leave: Employees are entitled to 10 days of paid time off (PTO) and sick leave per calendar year. PTO days do not roll over to the following year and must be used within the current calendar year.
- Blackout Period: PTO days may not be taken between December 1 and December 23 (peak shopping season), unless prior approval is granted by the Employer.
- Extended PTO for Long-Term Employees: After 3 years of continuous employment, the Employee will be eligible for 15 days of PTO/sick leave beginning in the 4th year of employment. After 5 years of continuous employment, the Employee will be eligible for 20 days of PTO/sick leave beginning in the 6th year of employment.
- Employee is not eligible for overtime compensation.
