What are the responsibilities and job description for the Category Manager position at Winzer Corp?
SUMMARY:
The Category Manager position is a key link between the franchise(s), suppliers, and purchasing department. Category Managers are responsible for heavy supplier contact and negotiation. This position is accountable for the addition, prioritization, pricing and sourcing of industrial fasteners and MRO products.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- College degree preferred or equivalent in experience.
- 3 years of related experience sourcing or selling industrial and/or automotive fasteners required.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to manage and juggle many changing priorities.
- Experience in Oracle Cloud a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Manage and oversee assigned product categories, including product additions, product life cycle and marketing initiatives to promote your line.
- Present a professional appearance and represent the company in an ethical manner.
- Work closely with other members of marketing, purchasing, and graphics.
- Work closely with Graphics in maintaining monthly marketing publications and meeting all publication deadlines and proofing for accuracy.
- Respond and react to franchise and sales rep product suggestions and needs.
- Provide answers to product issues in a timely fashion.
- Develop and provide product training for internal employees (customer service).
- Strive to make improvements in cost of goods, controlling expenses, improving technology and time management.
- Be responsible for generating all documentation regarding product additions.
- Maintain a professional and “can do” attitude to both internal and external employees and franchises.
- Recommend process improvements in order to make the category management department more efficient.
- Be the product expert for your line for all internal and external inquiries.
- Must be willing to accept additional responsibilities when called upon to do so.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Category Management, Including KPI’s and yearly goals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to efficiently use a personal computer equipped with standard keyboard and mouse.
- Ability to communicate in English to locate, read, and report information.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
