Our capabilities are constantly expanding and currently include metal stamping, laser cutting, brake forming, tubular stamped components, CNC and Swiss machined parts, wire forms, thread rolling, weldments, and integrated assemblies. Our modern facility includes a complete in-house tool and die department and fastener distributorship.
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for the planning, designing, programming, testing, start up, and commissioning of automation systems throughout our manufacturing facility.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop robotics and automation roadmap for manufacturing facility
- Responsible for overseeing scope, cost, and schedule of automation projects – including system designs, bills of materials and specifications.
- Assist in vendor selection, specifying automation equipment and robots and gathering RFQ's
- Research and stay current with best available technologies related to automation
- Programming of HMI’s, PLC’s, robots, and vision systems
- Testing and debugging of systems prior to placing in production
- Provide technical support as required to ensure plant robots are operating and optimized, including troubleshooting and operator training
- Create and maintain schematics and drawings for automation systems
- Assist plant personnel in development and implementation of efficiency projects
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 years experience in factory automation, designing, implementing, and/or maintaining industrial robotic equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Strong computer skills. 3D / CAD experience - preferably SolidWorks
- Able to read electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machine schematics
- Able to translate automation conceptual designs into functional systems
- Ability to work independently and on a team
- Positive, “can do” attitude.
THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- B.S. or associates degree in mechanical or electrical engineering/technology or related field
- Experience Fanuc and Universal robots and vision systems
