RN –Med/Oncology

WJM Professionals is recruiting for an RN with Med/Oncology experience at the Richmond VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.
The VA is a 20-bed unit: an 18-bed acute rehab polytrauma specializing in brain injury and a two-bed epilepsy monitoring unit. The VA provides care to active-duty service members and veterans.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs initial and periodic patient assessments and sets patient plans.
· Verifies transcription of physician's orders
· Review lab results
· Assist the physician with the procedure. Monitor patient patterns and vital signs during the procedure.
· Provides education to the patient and family members.
· Inserts and removes IV lines.
· Administer conscious sedation drugs and other drugs.
· Oversee the safety and comfort of the patients before, during, and after the procedure.
· Provide post-procedure monitoring.
· Obtain blood specimens from arterial/venous lines.
· Interpret EKG readings.
· Assess and document patient responses to medications.
· Maintain special therapeutic devices.
· Admit/transfer/discharge patients as appropriate.
· Can initiate lifesaving measures.
· Monitor intake and output of fluids.
REQUIREMENTS:
· At least 2 years of experience working as a Surgical RN
· ASN or BSN
· RN License
· BLS
· ACLS

HOURS: All shifts in 24 hours /7 days per week/365 days per year
Services will be needed for all shifts in 24 hours / 7 days per week / 365 days per year. Various schedules are available.
