I. Job Summary
As a Senior Front-End Software Engineer on WM’s customer facing engineering team, you are responsible for architecting, developing, coding, testing, and debugging websites and web applications and producing significant enhancements to existing applications. You will conduct business process analysis, needs assessments, and participate in design sessions with architects and other engineers to align digital solutions with business initiatives. You enjoy working on complex projects requiring additional specialized knowledge in website architecture. Day-to-day you will work in an Agile environment with User Experience Designers, Visual Designers, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to translate their digital solutions onto the web.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other ancillary duties may be assigned.
- Develop enterprise-level digital solutions by analyzing, coding, testing, and implementing solutions and by modifying and enhancing existing web applications.
- Coordinate with business analysts, UX researchers and scrum teams to determine requirements. Perform moderately complex analyses of system requirements and of existing business processes and information systems.
- Be energetic about understanding our business, our users, their requirements, and delivering delightful results.
- Collaborate with other engineering team members to determine the design of solid technical solutions.
- Review systems under development and related documentation.
- Perform peer code reviews and assist in more complex systems planning, scheduling and implementation.
- Have a family-oriented mindset when interacting with other members of the team.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
May coach and mentor less-experienced analysts and act as team leader on systems projects.
IV. Qualifications

A. Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Five (5) years of previous experience (in addition to education requirement).
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
- None required.
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Advanced knowledge or skills in one or more of the following is required:
- Knowledge of project management/change management in regards to acquisition/development life cycles.
- Systems development, implementation, upgrades and analyses.
- QA testing, catalyst or unified business modeling, system design and analysis.
- Knowledge of enterprise coding standards.
- Hands on experience in writing more complex code.
- Ability to perform code reviews.
- Knowledge of software methodologies.
- Ability to learn new and emerging technologies.
- Ability to lead a group to consensus, solve problems, and accomplish tasks.
- Ability to mentor and train less knowledgeable peers and individuals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).

- Modern Headless Content Management Systems: Sanity or similar.
- Feature Flag based development with platform like LaunchDarkly.
- NodeJS: Webpack, ExpressJS, REST APIs.
- Issue analysis using session replay technology like Logrocket.
- Comfortable on macOS and Linux.
- Knowledge of SEO and AEO best practices.
- Strong understanding of the Agile methodology and product development teams.
