Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language, has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Administrator. Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day tasks, including the documentation of projects
- Maintaining, patching, troubleshooting and administrating production Linux/Mac/Windows-based servers running a variety of different software applications
- Implementing new technologies to help streamline internal operations
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule as necessary, including being on call and after hours
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems with a focus on RHEL-based distributions, such as Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Fedora, CentOS Stream, etc.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, technologies and principles
- Familiarity with various scripting languages, such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, Perl, etc.
- Strong understanding of virtual machine environments and hypervisors
- Working knowledge of services that provide directory management, database management and configuration management, such as Active Directory, LDAP and DNS
- Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking and documentation skills
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
Preferred qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in Systems Administration
- Demonstrable ability to build production-focused services
- Familiarity with containerization (e.g. Kubernetes) is a plus
- Awareness of concepts such as NAS, OOBM, MFA, VPN, etc.
- Familiarity with enterprise hardware and datacenter environments
- Enthusiasm for experimenting with unique projects (e.g. homelab, Raspberry Pi, ESXi, Proxmox, etc.)
