WAA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, is Philadelphia's leading domestic violence advocate and service provider and among the largest domestic violence agencies in the country. The mission of WAA is to provide quality, compassionate and non-judgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence through advocacy and community education. With over 170 staff, WAA serves (2-100 bed safe havens and 15 transitional housing apartments), legal services, hotline counseling, aftercare community-based services, prevention & education, and advocacy.

Responsibilities:
The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness for the Emergency Shelters according to established Agency procedures, routines and schedules. Cleaning activities include but are not limited to: Emptying trash, dusting, spot cleaning, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, dry and wet mopping, sanitizing community areas. The Housekeeper will give bedrooms complete cleaning after residents leave and before new residents move in. They will follow all safety guidelines for handling/use of cleaning chemicals, assist in other housekeeping or related tasks/projects as assigned. They will attend staff, program and Agency meetings as required and maintain professionalism, sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times. All responsibilities are implemented according to our mission and vision and according to Agency standards.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or the equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in janitorial cleaning, installation, repair required. Residential cleaning is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning standards required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member is required.
- Demonstrated commitment to service of others is required.
- The ability to read, understand and communicate in English is required.
- Frequent lifting is required, typically not more than 25 lbs.
- The ability to bend, stoop, stand on regular basis and general physical exertion is required.
- Bilingualism is strongly preferred.
- Will be required to attend Domestic Violence Advocate Training, post hire.
- Satisfactory child abuse, criminal and FBI clearances.

Part Time (benefit eligible) Wednesday - Sunday 1:30pm -7:30pm
Hourly: $15.75/hour

Post Hire Requirements:
Employment offer and continued employment are contingent upon satisfactory child abuse, criminal and FBI clearances and a pre-employment physical, are required (all related fees will be paid by WAA) Must be able to attend the mandatory upcoming JARS training (Virtual) on the following days.
