SUMMARY
Women In Non Traditional Employment Roles (WINTER) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to train, educate and prepare women for transformative careers in the construction industry. Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Job Placement Specialist will be responsible for supporting WINTER’s program participants in securing sustainable union employment opportunities in the building and construction trades. The person in this role will be involved in building relationships with union representatives and employers, guiding program graduates through the placement process and providing post-placement support to ensure a successful transition. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in job placement, employer engagement and passion for helping women gain access to meaningful employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
I: JOB PLACEMENT & EMPLOYER RELATIONS
· Establish and maintain relationships with local unions and employers to identify job opportunities that align with participants’ skills and career goals.
· Match program participants with suitable job openings by reviewing resumes, conducting assessments, and preparing candidates for interviews.
· Assist employers in understanding the benefits of hiring women, offering resources to support inclusive hiring practices.
· Develop and maintain a network of employers willing to consider candidates from WINTER’s Apprenticeship Readiness Program.
· Facilitate placements, ensuring a successful match between job seekers and employers.
II: CAREER COACHING & JOB READINESS
· Provide one-on-one career counseling, resume building, and interview coaching for program participants.
· Conduct job readiness workshops focus on essential skills such as communication, workplace etiquette, and job search strategies.
· Assist participants in identifying transferable skills and exploring career pathways that align with their interests and qualifications.
· Prepare participants for the realities of the job market and work closely with them to overcome any barriers to successful employment.
III: POST-PLACEMENT SUPPORT
· Provide ongoing support to participants after placement, ensuring smooth transitions into their new roles.
· Monitor job retention, addressing any issues that may arise and offering resources to resolve workplace challenges.
· Conduct regular check-ins with both employers and employees to assess job satisfaction and provide feedback.
· Work with participants to develop career advancement strategies and opportunities for growth within their new positions.
IV: DATA TRACKING & REPORTING
· Maintain accurate records of job placements, follow-ups, and employment outcomes for reporting and program evaluation.
· Track and report on key metrics such as job placement rates, retention rates, and employer satisfaction.
· Collaborate with WINTER’s leadership to ensure that placement data is recorded and reported in compliance with organizational and funding requirements.
V: COLLABORATION & PROGRAM SUPPORT
· Work closely with other staff to ensure participants receive comprehensive support throughout the job search and placement process.
· Participate in team meetings, sharing insights on employment trends, employer needs, and program improvements.
· Contribute to outreach efforts by promoting job placement success stories to encourage potential participants and employers to get involved.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
I: Experience
· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in job placement, workforce development, or career counseling.
· Experience working with women or underserved communities is preferred.
· Strong understanding of the local job market, employment trends, and industry needs.
II: Skills
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
· Proven ability to build relationships with employers and community stakeholders.
· Experience with resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt strategies to fit the unique needs of each participant.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
