Wonder Care Site Assistant/ Group Leader
Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Site Coordinator, the Assistant is responsible for on-site activity leadership and working directly with children. Staff members must be qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective functions in the administration, operation, and maintenance of the Before and After School program.
Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age AND possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Have substantial experience working with children under 13 years of age, in an organized setting.
- Have very strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Possess an understanding of WCSD, its goals, and its mission.
- Possess knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in assisting daily activities.
- Possess knowledge of age-appropriate activities and expectations of children ages 5-12.
- Is able to address behavior and classroom management techniques with minimal support from the site coordinator
Certifications/Requirements:
- First Aid/ CPR/ AED trained
- Attends required professional development training
- Completes required training mandated by WCSD.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning of daily activities and preparation of site set up
- Activity leadership, including interaction with individual children and small groups.
- Maintain a safe environment for all children in the program.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of snacks.
- Assist the Site Coordinator in maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Managing parent pickups, parent communication and ensuring the student dismissal process is safe, controlled, and efficient.
- Know the emergency procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Display a positive attitude.
- Adhere to the dress code policy.
- Must have knowledge of and implement WonderCare Quality Standards.
- Perform all duties as assigned.
- Must remain calm, objective, and respectful in potentially stressful situations( i.e crying upset child, parent, or staff).
- Must be flexible and willing to adjust to change.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
- Must be able to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing or aggressive behavior).
