Wonderspring is seeking a Food Service Aide to join our team in supporting an Early Childhood Education center by providing high quality services to young children and their families. Position Purpose
The Food Service Aide ensures that all center food is ordered, delivered, organized, served, and properly stored in compliance with CACFP as well as maintaining continuous paperwork compliance. Additionally, the Food Service Aide is responsible for ensuring the kitchen and all food preparation tools/equipment/areas are organized, cleaned, disinfected, and sanitized.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily
• Take food counts from each classroom determining how many children will require meals for each serving
• Organize and deliver breakfast, lunch and snacks
• Serve all components of breakfast, lunch and snack as listed on menu (make & document changes as necessary)
• Serve all meal substitutes (including special milk) to comply with allergies/food preferences
• Collect, clean and store serving dishes using the three-step process when washing
• Complete inventory sheets and meal count forms once all meals have been served
• Be aware of and keep posted current children’s food allergy list.
• Check and record the refrigerator and freezer temperatures, report any problems
• Monitor meal count paperwork to ensure compliance on a daily basis
• Sweep and mop the kitchen, including dry storage ensuring to clean underneath counters and large appliances
• Make and distribute bleach and water solutions for sanitization and disinfection
Weekly
• Place food orders as stipulated by CACFP, Kremmer’s and Novick requirements
• Check food delivery against invoice notifying Novick and Kremmer’s with any discrepancies within ONE hour of delivery.
• In the event second delivery occurs after shift ends notify and coordinate with front office to ensure all food items are accounted for and stored properly
• Store all food and miscellaneous items within regulated timeframes ensuring refrigerator/freezer boxes and dry storage are dated and labeled upon delivery
• Ensure kitchen counter, cabinets, appliances, and the food cart are sanitized at the end of each shift
• Maintain/organize supply closet, dry storage, refrigerator, and freezer.
Monthly
• Perform monthly safety checklist
• Ensure all classrooms have utensils, cups, placemats, plates
• Clean Warmer
• Check temperature gauges of refrigerator/freezer for accuracy
• Wash oven mitts/fabric items
• Deep clean refrigerator and freezer
As Needed
• Report any in stock items that become missing to the office
• Record any meal substitutions on posted calendar menu
• Report to office immediate necessities for a given meal.
• Order and maintain all paper and cleaning supplies and other as indicated by food program
• Ensure inventory remains on a first in first out rotation (perishable and non-perishable items)
• Maintain, update, and distribute the food allergy/preference list
• Report any maintenance and/or health and safety concerns immediately
Qualifications
• Minimum, High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum of ServeSafe Certification Required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting strong customer service and the ability to interact effectively with parents/guardians
• Ability to maintain high level standards of confidentiality in regard to center, staff and family matters
• Possess the commitment, desire, and interpersonal skills necessary to work in early childhood education
• Knowledge and understanding of DHS licensing, Keystone Stars and accreditation requirements
• Ability to relate well in a multicultural cultural classroom environment
• Basic Proficiency in Microsoft Word Office Suite
• Ability to manage time and duties in a fast-paced environment
• First Aid/ CPR
Schedule
• Monday-Friday
• Hours per week= 25
• Hours = 8am - 1pm
