QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrates aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities
2. Valid driver’s license to be kept on file
3. Able to lift and move objects of up to 50 pounds unassisted
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and
acceptable
5. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal
resident alien status
REPORTS TO: Facilities Director, Evening Custodial Foreman, and/or Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide students and district with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean
environment in which to learn, develop and play.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs custodial tasks as assigned, including but not limited to dry and wet mopping
floors, emptying trash and pencil sharpeners, dusting and damp wiping all horizontal
surfaces and furniture. Disinfecting as directed nightly.
2. Cleans and disinfects lavatories, and whiteboards, washes windows and drinking
fountains, toilets, urinals and partitions.
3. Turns off all lights and lock all doors after areas are cleaned to be inspected.
4. Responsible for securing all windows and doors in assigned building daily and set alarm
when leaving.
5. Receives, deliveries, and properly stores all school supplies,
6. Maintains an adequate supply of custodial supplies in assigned closets; order any
anticipated shortages from the facilities department by written requisition as needed.
7. Keeps custodial closets and storage areas clean and clutter free.
8. Removes snow as assigned by supervisors. Snow removal may be required outside of
regularly assigned hours.
9. Performs all minor maintenance tasks; reports computerized work orders to facilities
department any tasks requiring maintenance assistance.
10. Inspects and replaces light bulbs and ceiling tiles .as needed
11. Cleans and maintains assigned custodial equipment so it is ready for next use.
12. Moves furniture, supplies and equipment within the school building as directed.
13. Aids in set up and take down of equipment and seating for scheduled and special
activities as directed; working closely with the appropriate office and supervisor.
14. Reports any vandalism directly to the Evening Custodial Foreman. High school will
maintain daily bathroom inspections for vandalism at the start of shift daily.
15. Is available to assist with building activities as necessary. This will require set up and
clean up as assigned.
16. Is available for overtime for emergencies on an on-call rotation status and scheduled
building activities.
17. Assists in all aspects of summer cleaning, daily laundering of rags and mop heads and
trash removal.
18. Inspects and keeps free of litter in dumpster areas.

19. Assists the maintenance and ground staff as directed.
20. Needs to be proficient with all floor care equipment.
21. Follows and implements all procedures developed by the Business Office and Facilities
Director along with the district policies and regulations as approved by the Board of
Education.
22. Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director, Business Administrator and/or
Superintendent of Schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 months; salary to be determined by the board of education.
TIME REQUIREMENTS:
Typical hours will include a ½ hour lunch and are as follows: 3:00pm – 11:00pm
Hours subject to adjustment by Facilities Director according to district needs.
EVALUATION: Written inspection of work area at least weekly by Evening Custodial
Foreman. Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the
Evening Custodial Foreman in accordance with state law, administrative
code and the provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of noncertified
staff.

Pay: $31,000.00 - $32,000.00 per day
