Is this the type of company you could work for?We are looking for someone to: Anticipates potential legal risk within the organization and develop options and strategies to mitigate areas of riskAdvises, negotiates, and manages legal disputes, arbitration and litigation.Oversees and manages outside counselDevelops case strategies, negotiates resolutions and settlementsResearches laws and case lawDrafts/assists in drafting pleadings and legal correspondence/briefs.Manages discoveryAppears on behalf of/represents WoodmenLife in hearings and court proceedingsProvides legal advice to associates and business areas regarding business mattersRemains current on federal and state laws, regulations and practices affecting the businessResearches, develops and advises on corporate policiesPrepares, reviews, and interprets contracts and legal documentsWe need someone who has: Juris doctorate from an accredited law schoolValid license to practice law in Nebraska or willingness to obtain Nebraska licensure if licensed in another stateDemonstrated experience mediating, negotiating, arbitrating, and litigating legal disputes5 years of experience working at a law firm or within an in-house counsel department.Excellent business judgementExcellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent research skillsAbility to work independently and collaborativelyStrategic thinker who can effectively prioritize short-term and long-term goals and competing assignmentsExcellent time management and organizational skillsHigh level of integrity and professionalism with the ability to work with highly confidential and privileged informationAbility to effectively deal with stress-related situationsWoodmenLife offers a competitive compensation package and a comprehensive benefits package.
