JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Advise degree-seeking students and alumni across all academic disciplines in the process of exploring career options, identifying goals, developing career management skills, and successfully pursuing career opportunities. Partner with colleagues across campus to assess student needs and interests, designing and delivering innovative, high-quality programs and services to enhance the career and professional development of all students.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Provide comprehensive career advising services primarily to degree-seeking students and additionally to alumni, administer and interpret career assessment tools as needed.
  • Advise students on the effective use of technology and online resources for their career exploration, decision-making, and search processes.
  • Design and facilitate innovative workshops, seminars and programs on career related topics for student groups, departments, and other audiences.
  • Teach "Discovering Majors and Careers" course for newly enrolled and current undergraduate students.
  • Assist with the office's employer outreach activities, plan and participate in employer site visits, and stay up to date on employment trends and career development issues
  • Remain current with industry trends and the changing employment marketplace, best practices in recruiting, and emerging STEM career fields.
  • Contribute to data collection (including annual surveys and phone campaign) and reporting for career outcomes and assessment.
  • Represent the office to constituents on-campus, serve on university committees and initiatives as needed
  • Assist with marketing and communications efforts to increase usage and visibility of the CDC
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or related field, Master's degree preferred
  • Experience with educational programs and services for diverse student populations including first-generation, international, and multicultural students
  • Knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), business, humanities and arts disciplines at undergraduate and graduate levels preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills, able to work with internal and external constituents, excellent presentation skills for large and small groups
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, ability to work independently and adapt to change in the workplace
  • Capability to learn and proficiently utilize career related online systems and resources, office computer applications, attention to detail and quality in all work products
  • Availability to work some evening and weekend hours to support office initiatives. Some day and overnight travel may be required.
