TITLE: Part-Time Library Assistant
SUPERVISOR: Michael Dennis, Library Assistant III
SSTA APPROVER: Michael Dennis, Library Assistant III
SCHEDULE: Shift 1: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 8 pm to 1 am
Shift 2: Wednesday-Thursday 8pm-1 am, Sunday 11 am-4 pm
General Statement of Duties:
The Part-Time Library Assistant helps students, faculty, and staff at the Library Circulation Desk. This position enables the library to
remain open late evenings and on Sundays.
Responsibilities:
- Charges, renews, and discharges library materials borrowed using automated and manual systems to record the disposition of library materials.
- Monitors the borrowing of library materials by determining the eligibility of borrowers and recording the payment of fines.
- Performs shelf maintenance projects to ensure the organization of circulating collections.
- Operates library equipment; locates and files materials; enforces library rules; and inspects library premises.
- Assists and instructs users in the operation of microfilm readers, reader printers and/or other equipment.
- Performs bibliographic searches for faculty use and for other purposes.
- Assumes responsibility for the operation of library facility in absence of a supervisor.

Associates degree or equivalent college experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous customer service experience
- Previous experience working within libraries
