Position Summary
The Tax Accountant reports to the Tax Manager and has a focus on a broad range of tax matters related to the corporation and partnership structures, including financial reporting, compliance, M&A activities, and non-income based taxes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with Tax Manager and external advisors to ensure the timely and accurate filing of federal and state corporate and partnership returns
- Assist with annual K-1 reporting process for a 700 multi-member partnership
- Responsible for the consolidated financial statement reporting of income taxes and legal entity reporting in accordance with ASC 740
- Responsible for all aspects of federal, state income tax filings
- Proactively manage and maintain provision and compliance deadlines
- Ensure compliance with tax accounting processes, controls, and maintain appropriate documentation
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations, and communicate the necessary recommendations to management
- Conduct federal, multistate, or local tax technical research as needed
- Prepare sales and use tax returns and other non-income tax and its related payments
- Assistant with tax controversies with various taxing authorities
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation and analysis for multi-legal entity org structure
- Ensure appropriate documentation of processes are maintained
Position Specific Skills/Qualifications
Work Experience
- 3 plus years relevant tax experience in both public accounting and/or industry
Professional Licenses/Certifications
- CPA - Certified Public Accountant
Computer Skills/Software Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite
Essential Skills/Competencies
- Experience with multi-member LLCs, including tax compliance, provision and, M&A considerations
- ASC740 technical tax accounting expertise
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Tax, Law, or Economics
